Bovet, known for its inspiring ladies pocket watches replica from the 19th century, lends its inimitable magic to the new Lady Bovet Flower of Life (Fleur de Vie), which was introduced last month. This first piece in the 39mm Lady Bovet collection is driven by the hand-wound Virtuoso movement, launched in 2014 with the debut of the Calibre à Spécialités Horlogères. The Virtuoso II is the first movement not regulated by a tourbillon to be entirely developed and produced by Bovet’s own technicians and watchmakers, and it features a seven-day power reserve.
An off-centered dial at 12 o’clock, fashioned from white mother-of-pearl or black enamel, shows the hours and minutes, while the seconds counter is at 6 o’clock. The center wheel and its bridge, visible at 4 o’clock, mirror the sprung balance and balance cock, while the power-reserve indicator is located at 10 o’clock.
An easy maneuver allows the timepiece to be worn on its reverse side, which shows an entirely different face: a classic dial with either a hand-gilded flower of life engraved on mother-of-pearl or designed in grand feu enamel. The Flower of Life’s convertible Amadeo case, in red or white gold, allows for some easy maneuvering of its own. You will remember that the patented Amadeo® System, introduced in 2010, makes it possible to transform a Bovet timepiece into a reversible wristwatch, a pocket watch, a table clock or a pendant necklace. And best of all, this can be done without the use of tools.
There are two versions of the new collection, one in red gold and one in white gold. The red gold piece features over 1.50 carats of diamonds on the case and mother-of-pearl dial off-centered dial, while the unique-piece white gold version (shown here) shows off in black grand feu enamel.
In producing this collection, Bovet continues its charity work in conjunction with the Artists for Peace and Justice (APJ) association, which began in 2012. This partnership gave rise to a friendship between Bovet owner Pascal Raffy and actress Madeleine Stowe, who is the face of this new timepiece. In addition to Bovet’s annual contribution to the cause supported by APJ, 10% of the value of every Lady Bovet Fleur de Vie timepiece sold will be donated to the association. APJ was founded by Oscar-winning filmmaker Paul Haggis and friends, bringing together numerous figures from the film, music and art industries to support education and the teaching of audiovisual trades to children and adults in Haiti.
