Updated Instrument: Zenith Heritage Cronometro TIPO CP-2

Of the 2500 original Zenith Tipo CP-2 Originally made in the early 1970’s, most were supplied to a variety of military services around the world. Often referred to as the A. Cairelli edition in recognition of Zenith’s Italian distributor at the time, the new version retains the details of the original including the somewhat over-size dimension (for the era) of 43 mm. Now re-introduced in a limited series of 1,000 units worldwide, the Tipo CP-2 is easily recognized as military inspired with over-size sub-dials and bright white lume over an all-business black dial. Popular with military personnel, and most especially pilots, the TIPO CP-2 was originally and remains very easy to read and reference at a glance. As with the original, the modern version does away with the hour accumulator sub-dial and the added interference endemic to the tri-compax look. It also manages to widen the footprint of the chronograph and running seconds chapters from the center in a well balanced and surprisingly un-cluttered execution; just like the original. Both versions feature a column wheel chronograph control system, the original within the caliber 146 manual wind, while this new rendition opts for the famous El Primero hi-speed automatic winding movement. Rated to 10atm, this all steel instrument also incorporates a grip-enhanced rotating bezel, and non-locking chronograph pushers for ease of use, even with a gloved hand.
