Tiffany & Co.’s Brand New Addition

Just released today, this CT60TM Annual Calendar is available in a limited edition of 60 timepieces, each individually numbered. The 40mm white gold watchcase houses a self-winding Swiss movement with Côtes de Genève, colimaçon and perlage finishing visible through the exhibition caseback. On the front of the watch, the gray soleil-finish dial features silver poudré Arabic numerals; the month aperture is at 6 o’clock. Complementing the gray dial is a hand-stitched watchstrap in gray alligator leather.

Interestingly, the inspiration for the CT60 collection, which now comprises a variety of steel or gold watches replica on a strap or bracelet (some with diamonds, too), was a vintage Tiffany watch that was given to Franklin Delano Roosevelt as a birthday gift in 1945. According to a company literature, the CT60 reflects the cadence of modern life from the streets of New York to every point on the globe. This collection of timepieces is summed up in the famous phrase, the New York Minute: 60 seconds of pure possibility.

But Mr. Tiffany introduced his brand’s greatest symbol in 1853, when he unveiled the nine-foot Atlas clock above his store—the same clock that today stands above the entrance to the company’s Fifth Avenue flagship. People relied on this unique public clock to keep their lives running on time, and they came to rely on such precision at home, too. With the adoption of standard time in 1883, Tiffany & Co. began a weekly regulation of over 400 clocks owned by its customers. The new CT60TM Annual Calendar is priced at $20,000.
