Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime 6300G-001

A part of the Grand Complication collection, Patek Philippe’s Grandmaster Chime (Ref. 6300G-001) was released this year at Baselworld. The watch is quite the feat and reintroduces the world to Patek Philippe’s original Grande Sonnerie watch, Ref. 5175.

The Grandmaster Chime Ref. 5175 was originally released for watchmaker’s 175th anniversary in 2015 and was only a limited edition of seven pieces with one going to the Patek Philippe museum. Luckily if someone couldn’t get their hands on that watch, the new reference is available and is now in white gold.

Although the case engraving has been sacrificed, the price of the watch has also been reduced. Instead of the $2.5 million price, the 6300G-001 is $2.2 million. The movement powering this watch is the Caliber 300 GS AL 36-750 QIS FUS IRM and functions include Grande Sonnerie, Petite Sonnerie, minute repeater, second time zone, moon phase and many more. Although this is a lot to cram in one timepiece, Patek Philippe realized this and created a watch with dual-faces. The 47.4mm case is reversible, with the time side in ebony black and the calendar side in a silvery opaline.

Not many can afford this watch, but it’s fun to marvel at what the legendary watchmaker can create.
