New Execs at Bulova and Cartier

Appointments at Citizen and Cartier saw two CEOs take the executive seat at their watch companies his week. A previously announced change at Cartier is now effective and finds Cyrille Vigneron as CEO of Cartier International. Vigneron who succeeds Stanislas de Quercize, also joined the Richemont Group Management Committee on the same date.

Cartier

The 54-year-old Vigneron, a French national, worked with the Richemont Group from 1988 to 2013, including a stint as managing director of Cartier Japan (1997-2002), president of Richemont Japan (2002-2005) and managing director of Cartier Europe (2005-2013). Most recently Vigneron was president of LVMH in Japan.

I am delighted to be back at Cartier and I am looking forward to embarking with its teams on this new journey, said Vigneron. We know each other well and I am confident that I can rely on their enthusiasm to continue the great work carried out by Stanislas de Quercize and address the challenges currently facing the Maison and the profession as a whole.

A father of four children, a music lover and connoisseur of Japanese culture, Vigneron is also an author, having published De Geishas en Mangas: Chroniques du Japon d’aujourd’hui (Editions Albin Michel, 2009).

Bulova

In New York, the Tokyo-based Citizen Watch Company named Jeffrey Cohen as the new president of Bulova, which Citizen purchased in 2010. Cohen, who replaces Gregory Thumm, will also continue in his role as president of New-York-based Citizen Watch Company of America. Citizen says the two watch brands will continue to be operated as separate companies. Cohen, who has thirty-five years of watch industry experience, was promoted to president of Citizen U.S. in 2011 from his previous position as executive vice president. Prior to joining Citizen in 2010, Cohen served as worldwide president of the Movado Watch brand.

Jeffrey’s new position as president of both companies will provide an excellent opportunity for our company to take broader advantage of his exceptional vision, managerial skills and industry-wide relationships, said Citizen Watch Company Ltd. President Toshio Tokura. John Wille, who was serving as interim president of Bulova Corporation until a permanent successor was named, will resume his position as Bulova’s chief operating officer.
