Casio G-Shock has teamed with New York City bike shop-turned-street-style brandChari & Co to design a limited-edition men’s watch (500 will be made).
Soon available at the Chari & Co store in New York and at shopcasio.com and the G-SHOCK Soho Store in New York, theGA500K features a new case design with a wider face, a retrograde second hand for the stopwatch, and countdown timer.
The 48.9mm GA500K ($190) comes equipped with G-Shock’s well-known shock resistance, 200-meters of water resistance, an LED light, 48-city world timer, five daily alarms, the aforementioned retrograde 1/100th-second stopwatch (with target time alert), a countdown timer and an unusual hand retract function that shifts the analog hands away from the digital display during timing measurements.
This GA500K is the first collaboration between the two brands, both of which share a Japanese heritage and a message focusing on ‘toughness’. The new watch features a design inspired by the three main components of a bicycle. Note that the dial forms a triangular geometric pattern in shades of black and olive. Both companies were so jazzed about their collaboration that they created a video to mark the event and the watch. See it here:
