Introducing a high-performance cobalt chrome alloy to the watch industry, Roger Dubuis forges a case, bezel, caseback and crown of its high-tech Quatuor using the material, which the firm dubs MicroMelt technology. The alloy, used in aerospace technology and in astronomy, is 100% biocompatible, corrosion-resistant and extremely durable.

In this latest, colorful interpretation of the 48mm Excalibur Quatuor, the gleaming cobalt chrome MicroMelt elements contrast with the blue PVD-coated movement barrel cage and bridges, as well as the dial, hour-marker and alligator leather strap. Roger Dubuis then adds red and white accents to the printed speedometer-style minute track, the white gold skeleton hands with SuperLuminova-filled red tips, as well as the red strap stitching. The Quatuor’s unique functionality, whereby four separate free-sprung balances and five differentials conspire (via resonance) to immediately balance any fluctuations in rate, remains as impressive as ever in this new high-tech jacket. The hand-wound 590-component RD101 Quatuor movement beats at frequency of 16 Hz (115,200 vph) hums with the same intensity it did when it debuted in 2013. Only eight Excalibur Quatuor Cobalt MicroMelt watches replica will be made, and one will be dedicated to a U.S. customer.
