Jorg Gray In Pop Culture

December 19, 2012 – As TIME magazine names President Barack Obama the iconic person of the year for the second time, Jorg Gray is left wondering if it makes the American watch company the iconic watch brand of the year.

President Obama received his original Jorg Gray 6500 timepiece in 2007 as a birthday gift from his secret service detail and has been wearing it ever since – even as he graced the September 2012 cover of TIME.

Demand for this striking and sophisticated watch grew as Obama was photographed with the Jorg Gray 6500 at numerous notable events, including his presidential election speech and historic inauguration, spurring Jorg Gray to create a Commemorative 6500 Edition. The Jorg Gray collection has since expanded to include a complete men’s and women’s line – attracting other notable icons in pop culture.

Jorg Gray timepieces can most recently be spotted on the wrists of Project Runway All-Star contenders, Laura Kathleen and Althea Harper, and Sgt. James Doakes on the season seven finale of Showtime’s drama series, Dexter. President Obama has also appeared wearing his JG6500 as he hugged First Lady Michelle in the most shared picture in history, with US Olympic gymnast McKayla Maroney while they mimic the gold medalist’s infamous not impressed face, and on the cover of Rolling Stone. Both Maxim and Men’s Fitness have selected the watch company as the Gift to Give this holiday season.
