While we previewed many of the new 2017 Da Vinci watches replica from IWC last month, the remaining Da Vinci updates have been unveiled this week in Geneva at the SIHH. These include:
The Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Chronograph
This 18-karat red gold watch combines a classic tourbillon with a retrograde date and a sporty chronograph on a single dial.
Devised from the IWC 89360 chronograph caliber, the new IWC-manufactured 89900 caliber inside this model allows the wearer to hack the tourbillon, which means the whirlwind will temporarily halt as it is set to the second. The result is a technically sophisticated and cleanly designed complication. The wearer reads stopped hours and minutes from a totalizer at the top of the dial, while a central seconds hand shows elapsed seconds. The flying tourbillon is positioned below at 6 o’clock. On the left-hand side, the curved arc of the retrograde date display visually connects one complication with the other.
IWC says it manufactured the pallet lever and escape wheel with a diamond coating that reduces friction, thus generating a higher output of energy. Price: $103,000.
The Da Vinci Automatic
With its 40mm diameter this watch is designed as a classic three-hander for both men and women. This reference reflects the classic Da Vinci family design signature – a round case with distinctive horns. Like the earlier-previewed 36mm models, this larger watch retains the minimalist dial with its large Arabic figures and lancet-shaped hands. One model comes with a silver-plated dial and a black Santoni leather strap, the other with a slate-colored dial and stainless-steel bracelet. Prices: $5,400 (Santoni alligator black leather strap) and $6,400 (steel bracelet).
