CASIO SYNCHRONIZES ITS TIMEPIECES AT BASELWORLD 2014 WITH NEW TECHNOLOGY G-SHOCK GPW1000 Receives GPS and Radio Wave Signals and EDIFICE EQB-500 Links with Smartphone Using Bluetooth® V4.0

BASEL SWITZERLAND, MARCH 27, 2014 – Casio America, Inc. is proud to unveil two new concepts for high-performance analog watches replica. The first is the G-SHOCK GPW1000, the world’s first watch with a hybrid system for receiving Global Positioning System (GPS) information and Radio Wave signals. The second is the EDIFICE EQB-500, which enables users to link their smartphone using Bluetooth® v4.0 technology. Both timepieces will be on display at Baselworld 2014 in Switzerland in Casio’s booth, Hall 1, B13.

“We are very excited to unveil Casio’s latest smartwatches at the largest international watch and jewelry trade show, Baselworld,” said Shigenori Itoh, CEO and President of Casio America, Inc. “The G-SHOCK GPW1000 and the EDIFICE EQB-500 embody Casio’s theme for the show – The Synchronized Timepiece – by pioneering a new frontier for analog watches replica that keeps consumers connected while continuing to offer a higher level of performance that Casio fans have come to know and trust.”

Casio’s G-SHOCK GPW1000 is equipped with low-power consumption, high-performance GPS LSI manufactured by Sony Corporation. Sony and Casio collaborated on this technology in order to specially customize it for wristwatches enabling them to achieve world-leading low power consumption. By combining Multi-Band 6 technology, which allows users to receiving Radio Wave signals transmitted from six stations around the world, and the GPS receiving function in a hybrid system, this new G-SHOCK can maintain accurate time easier than ever before. The watch automatically receives standard time-calibration radio waves where available. When they are not available, the watch will receive GPS signals and it can adjust the time, allowing the wearer to always view the correct time at the current location.

The EDIFICE EQB-500 is designed with ultra-low energy consumption LSI Bluetooth® Low Energy LSI ML7105 wireless technology developed jointly with LAPIS Semiconductor Co., Ltd. It is also the first Casio analog watch to employ Bluetooth® v4.0 with low energy wireless technology. While displaying time information from a smartphone, the watch allows its world time and alarm functions to be set from the same smartphone and in turn revolutionizing the way analog watches replica are used.

Both timepieces feature Casio’s unique Multi-Mission Drive, which enables each watch hand to perform multiple functions. They are also outfitted with a new shape of solar cell and motors that are 26 percent smaller than before. These advancements have allowed Casio to create high-performance devices in the beautiful form of classic analog watches replica, while maintaining outstanding readability and ease of use.
