Cartier Drive De Cartier

Premiering at this year’s SIHH this past week, the Drive de Cartier watch is is undeniably recognizable as a Cartier watch – from the patterning of the guilloché dial to the blue sapphire winding crown. The case, available in pink gold or steel, is fitted with a black, grey, or white guilloché dial marked by Roman numerals punctuated with sword-shaped hands. The transparent case-back reveals the Manufacture Movement 1904 MC, which is available in two versions: the 1904-PS MC which tells the hours, minutes, and small seconds and date; and the 1904-FU MC which features a second time zone, a day/night indicator, a large date and small seconds.

About Cartier

In 1926, a trunk filled with precious stones and jewelry arrived at the Cartier jewelry workshops in Paris. The Maharajah wished to have the contents reset in the Parisian style. To carry out the work he chose Louis Cartier, the quintessential Paris jeweler, whom he had met in India. The result was a unique piece comprising 2,930 diamonds with a combined weight of 962.25 carats: five magnificent Art Deco diamond-studded platinum chains adorned with seven large diamonds in a variety of cuts (from 18 to 73 carats), suspended in a mesmerizing cascade.
